We run every Talivio product on our own servers, and for a long time a server panel told us those servers were fine. It was usually right about the server. It was not always right about what was running on it. Today we are opening Hostio to everyone: a server operations layer that sits next to the panel you already use and shows you what is silently breaking.
Why we built it
Panels such as Ploi and Forge are good at what they are built for: creating a server, adding a site, issuing a certificate, running a deploy. What they show you is the state they set up. What they cannot show you is everything that drifted afterwards — a cron entry pointing at a folder that was renamed, a queue worker started with the wrong arguments, a cache that filled up months ago. The panel stays green, the site still answers, and the problem sits there until a customer finds it.
Hostio started as our own answer to that. We wrote down every quiet failure we found on our servers, turned each one into a check, and pointed the checks at the servers our panel manages.
Three things it found on our own servers
- A scheduler that stopped for five weeks. A folder was renamed; the cron entry still pointed at the old path. Nothing errored, nothing alerted — scheduled jobs simply stopped running, and nobody noticed for five weeks.
- 42,000 jobs waiting for five months. A queue worker was listening to the wrong queue. The jobs were queued correctly and never processed. The worker looked healthy the whole time, because it was — it was just waiting on a queue nothing was sent to.
- A WordPress page taking 3.7 seconds. OPcache was full, so PHP was recompiling code on every request. The site was up; it was just slow, and slow is easy to blame on everything except the server.
None of these show up as a red light in a server panel. All three show up in Hostio as an insight with the evidence next to it.
How it works
- Adopt, read-only. You connect a server your panel already manages — Ploi, Forge or a hand-built setup. Hostio reads it without rewriting a single configuration file, so nothing changes for your panel and you can stop at any time.
- Insights. Hostio checks the server against failures drawn from real incidents: stopped schedulers, mismatched queues, a full OPcache, SSH keys that are not on your list, PHP versions that have drifted between sites.
- Preview, apply, roll back. On the paid plans, every fix shows you exactly what it will change before it runs, takes a backup, re-scans afterwards to confirm the problem is gone, and can be rolled back.
- Move sites between servers. On the Agency plan, Hostio moves a site from one server to another step by step, checking each step before the next one starts.
What Hostio does not do yet is replace your panel entirely — creating a brand-new site from scratch is still the panel's job. For now Hostio runs next to it, not instead of it.
Where it stands today
All of Talivio's servers are monitored in Hostio, and 63 live sites are ready with Hostio deploy keys; the full switch-over of our own sites is planned for March 2027. Hostio is built by Talivio Technology OÜ in Estonia, and its control plane runs in Frankfurt.
